What lies behind the price of a handcrafted creation?

When it comes to handcrafted pieces, especially unique creations like those from Imaginarium, one question often comes up: why these prices? If you’ve ever wondered, this post is here to explain everything behind the label.
1. A handcrafted creation means, above all, time
Each of my creations is imagined, designed, and handcrafted. This means hours of meticulous work are required for each step:
designing the concept,
selecting high-quality materials,
sewing and finishing.
Unlike industrial production, there are no automated machines or production lines, nor staff dedicated to specific tasks. It’s a labor of love and dedication, where I take on multiple roles throughout the day.
2. High-quality materials
The fabrics I choose are not selected at random. I prioritize natural, durable materials, often sourced from ethical productions.
These materials come at a higher cost than standard fabrics because they ensure not only greater durability but also unmatched comfort and a reduced environmental impact.
3. A unique expertise
Buying a handcrafted creation means buying into craftsmanship. These are skills often forgotten or underestimated, requiring years of learning and practice. In fact, I’ve learned far more through hands-on work after my degree than during it. At Imaginarium, every stitch, every button, and every detail tells a story and reflects this commitment to quality.
4. An ethical and sustainable model
In an era dominated by overconsumption, I’ve chosen to produce less but better. This model, more respectful of people and the planet, involves higher production costs compared to fast fashion. Everything is made to order, avoiding excess stock and wasteful production. While this means a longer wait time before clients receive their order, it also ensures that each piece is crafted with the utmost care.
Purchasing one of my creations is a choice to:
support local craftsmanship,
encourage environmentally friendly practices,
consume less but better.
Prices often seem high because we are all accustomed to outsourced production in countries that don’t always respect minimum wages or human rights.
5. Sentimental value
Finally, every creation carries a name and a story. These details, invisible to some, add a unique value to each piece.
6. Understanding is appreciating
I know that the prices of handcrafted items can seem high at first glance. But when you choose an artisanal creation, you’re investing in much more than just a garment. You’re investing in a story, values, and a more respectful future for our world.
Thank you for supporting this craft and appreciating the value of every creation, beyond its price.
