"Cottagecore, between nature and romanticism, becomes a new art of living... A true return to the sources."
Alexandre Marain, Vogue France article, July 31, 2024
Cottagecore is part of the concept of slow living, a lifestyle centered on reconnecting with the present, returning to one's roots, to nature, and which is in opposition to the frantic and exhausting pace of modern society.
This style began to develop around 2010 but acquired its official name in 2018. It is the contraction of "cottage" (small rustic countryside house) and "core", meaning aesthetic, trend, soul.
A popular trend in recent years, both in fashion and in decoration, the goal is to recreate a simple, vintage and above all romanticized way of life. The cottagecore style values artisanal practices, DIY (Do It Yourself), country life, walks, making your own vegetable garden, making pies, reading by the fire... The idea is to flourish in the beauty of nature and traditional know-how!
The clothes associated with this trend are therefore simple and comfortable, in natural tones such as beige, green, brown or rust. The cuts are classic, with a historical inspiration, and we favor natural materials such as cotton or linen.
Other aesthetics related to cottagecore: grandmacore, farmcore, goblincore, fairycore.
